George Shade Died Friday

George Shade, a well known Madison county resident for half a century, died unexpectedly here Friday night. His death occurred while he was seated in a chair, down town in Winterset.

Mr. Shade was 73 years of age at his death. He was a native of Madrid, where he was born April 3, 1896, a son of Calvin and Angeline Abraham Shade. He had lived in Madison county for 50 years, engaging in farming and livestock buying. About 30 years ago he moved into Winterset. He was a veteran of World War I.

He was married Aug. 13, 1927, at DeSoto, to Vava Cosand, who survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Eckles of Oak View, Calif.; two step-children, Mrs. Miriam Dowler of Winterset and Dale Cosand of New York, N.Y.; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Estella Bailey of Winterset and Mrs. Isabella Platts of Peru; and two brothers, Leland Shade of Cumming and Calvin Shade of Peru.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Walter A. Samp. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
