Nellie Hogue Died Tuesday

Mrs. Nellie Hogue of Winterset, a long-time resident of the Peru community, died Thursday, July 25, at Memorial hospital here. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Hogue was a life-long resident of Madison county. She was born in Winterset Feb. 28, 1882, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sim Draper. She was married to Wilbert E. Hogue on May 7, 1902. Most of their married life was spent on a farm near Peru. His death occurred in 1963.

Two of Mrs. Hogue’s daughters, Olive and Reva, preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Claudean Schmidt of Ogden, Utah, and Mrs. Thelma Waters of North Hollywood, Calif. She also leaves 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Mrs. Hogue was a member of the Peru Methodist church. She had been a resident of Winterset since 1960.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Walter A. Samp of Winterset. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
