Marlin Eivins, 56, of Macksburg died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at his home in Macksburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset, with burial in the Moon Cemetery near Macksburg. A visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 28) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare; where family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
Marlin Dean Eivins was born April 14, 1956, in Madison County, Iowa; the son of Darrell and Ida (Guessford) Eivins. He grew up around Macksburg and graduated from Winterset High School in 1974. He then attended and graduated from Iowa State University in 1978 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. His marriage to Ruth Ann Althoff took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg, Iowa, on Dec. 1, 1984. Marlin worked as a farmer all of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; the Madison County Pork Producers and he served on the Madison County Zoning Board; was a former Mayor and Council member for Macksburg and was a proud member of the Macksburg Co-op Coffee Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eivins of Macksburg; his parents, Darrell and Ida Eivins of Lorimor; his children, Michelle West of Lenox; Michael Eivins of Macksburg; his siblings, Alan Eivins of Lorimor; Garnet Johnson of Windsor Heights; Karen Kalasinsky of Winterset; Nona Eivins of West Des Moines; several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
