Lula Kirkland Dies In Chicago

Funeral Services Held on Tuesday at Macksburg Methodist Church

Mrs. Lula M. Kirkland of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Friday, Dec. 15, at a hospital in Chicago, where she had been visiting. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Kirkland was born near Barney April 14, 1891. She was the former Lula Iiams, daughter of William and Lara Garrett Iiams. She was married at Winterset on Sept. 14, 1910, to William A. Kirkland. His death occurred in 1964. One son, Lyle, also preceded her in death.

For the last five years, her home had been in Winterset. She was a member of the Winterset Art center and the 60-Plus club.

She leaves three sons, Cecil Kirkland of Vallejo, Calif., Eugene (Pat) Kirkland of Coco Beach, Fla., Wendell Kirkland of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Pinckney of Iowa Falls, six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Almquist. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
