Donald Lienemann Adel Aug. 18, 2003 Donald C. Lienemann, 75, of Adel, died of pancreatic cancer at home on Monday, Aug. 18, 2003.

Services were held Thursday, Aug 21, at Faith Lutheran Church in Adel. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Donald Clarence Lienemann was born on the family farm north of DeSoto on Jan. 25, 1928, the son of Clarence Edward and Renetta Hamann Lienemann.

He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1945 and attended Iowa State University before enlisting in the Navy. He returned to farming in 1947, and was recalled to duty during the Korean War. He became a Farm Bureau fieldman in 1954 in Clarke County, and later for Plymouth County. He was a sales representative for Wells Blue Bunny Dairy, living in Worthington, Minn. In 1962 he turned to farm-related sales and the family moved to Adel. He worked for Stanhoist Equipment, Harvestore, Fawn Engineering and several livestock auction markets. He was a member of Farm Bureau, American Angus Association, the Iowa Cattlemen Association, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; three daughters, Nancy Sullivan, Dianne Donelson, and Judy Kennedy; eight grandchildren; one sister, Berneal Popiano of Des Moines; and two brothers, Lloyd Lienemann of Stuart, and LaVern Lienemann of Bryon, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Hospice of Central Iowa. McCalley Funeral Home in Adel was in charge of arrangements.

Donald C. Lienemann, 75, died at home on August 18, 2003 of pancreatic cancer. Services will be 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Adel, on Thursday, August 21, 2003. Visitation will begin Wednesday at noon and family will greet friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Donald Clarence Lienemann was born on the family farm south of DeSoto, Iowa on Janaury 25, 1928 to Clarence Edward and Renetta Hamann Lienemann.

To celebrate his earthly life, Don leaves his wife of 53 years, Joanne (Mullins) Lienemann; daughters, Nancy (Stephen) Sullivan, Dianne (Mark) Donelson and Judy (Steven) Kennedy; grandchildren, Sarah Sullivan (Nick) Bigelow, Justin Sullivan, Seth Sullivan, Sybil Sullivan, Jessica Donelson, Lori Donelson, Zachary Kennedy and Mitchell Kennedy; a sister, Berneal Popiano of Des Moines; brothers, Lloyd of Stuart and LaVern of Bryon, MI; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Don graduated from DeSoto High School in 1945 and attended ISU before enlisting in the Navy. Honorably discharged in 1947 he returned to farming. During the Korean War he was recalled to duty. Leaving farming in 1954 he became a Farm Bureau Fieldman for Clarke County and later for Plymouth County. While a sales rep for Wells blue Bunny Dairy the family lived in Worthington, MN. In 1962 he turned to farm related sales and moved his family to Adel, IA. Stanhoist Equipment, Harvestore, Fawn Engineering and several Livestock Auction Markets are in his resume. He belonged to Farm Bureau, American Angus Assn., Iowa Cattlemen Assn. and the American Legion.

In addition to encouraging his wife’s interests, he was involved with all his daughters’ activities, with many of his grandchildren’s activities, with the founding and growth of Faith Lutheran Church, with his Angus cattle, and had many friends and acquaintances from all walks of life.

Memorial contributions can be made to his church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
