Funeral services were held May 27 from the Lorimor Methodist church for Wilkie H. Collins, long-time resident of that community, whose death occurred May 25 at a nursing home in Winterset. He was 76 years of age.
Mr. Collins was born at St. Charles July 27, 1890, a son of Lemon and Ann Collins. He moved to Lorimor in 1910. In 1914 he attended a school of mechanics in Chicago, and spent the remainder of his life in that trade until his retirement in 1962.
He was married at Grant City, Mo., in 1912, to Edna Roth. Her death occurred in 1964.
Mr. Collins was a member of the Christian church. He was affiliated with the Modern Woodmen, Royal Neighbor lodge, and the Lions club in Lorimor.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ann Lee and Mrs. Bertina Lumsden, both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Eva Cooper of Lorimor; a number of grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Husted of Springfield, Mo., and Mrs. Dawn Johnston of Simi, Calif.
The Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset, conducted the funeral services May 27. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
