Page 6Fannie K. Benge Dies at 95 Years
Life-Long Resident of This Community Dies at Local Nursing Home
Mrs. Fannie K. Benge, a resident of Winterset for all of her 95 years, died Monday, May 22, at a nursing home here.
Mrs. Benge was a member of a well-known family in Winterset. She was the widow of Warren P. Benge, who engaged in the plumbing and heating business here over a long period of years.
She was the former Fannie Kiser, daughter of William and Jane Rhoads Kiser, and was born in Winterset Sept. 24, 1871. She was married to Warren P. Benge at Colfax on Dec. 19, 1894.
Mrs. Benge was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset. She was affiliated also with the Rebekah lodge.
Mrs. Benge’s husband died in 1957, and a son died in infancy. She is survived by four sons, Joseph Benge of Anderson, Ind., Robert Benge of Long Beach, Calif., Leland Benge of Davenport, and Don Benge of LaGrange, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Weinhold of Troy, Mich., Mrs. Miriam Lyon of Des Plaines, Ill., and Mrs. Gertrude Simon of Winterset; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the First Christian church in Winterset in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William Bowles. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery. Memorials are being given to the Christian church in memory of Mrs. Benge.
