Death of Retired Madison County Farmer Occurred This Sunday
James H. Willcox of Winterset, a retired Madison county farmer, died Sunday, May 7, at a Winterset nursing home. He was 85 years of age.
Mr. Willcox was a native of Adair county, where he was born March 30, 1882, a son of Archie and Sarah Roberts Willcox. Most of his life was spent in Madison county, farming in Jackson and Webster townships. He moved to Winterset in 1957.
He was a member of the Webster Methodist church.
Mr. Willcox was married March 9, 1904, at Winterset to Verdie M. Estel. Her death occurred Jan. 13 of this year. A son, Lloyd, also preceded him in death, May 11, 1966, and also a daughter, in infancy.
He leaves a son, Orville Willcox of Jackson township.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Charles White. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
