L. R. McKibban of Des Moines Dies

Retired Insurance Executive Was Native of Madison County

Louden R. McKibban of Des Moines, a native of Madison county, died Friday, April 7, at Rochester, Minn. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. McKibban was born in Lincoln township Feb. 8, 1892, a son of James and Sarah Rippey McKibban. He attended Capitol City Commercial college in Des Moines, and after graduation worked for the Mill Owners Mutual Insurance company of Des Moines. He spent his active life with that organization, and was a vice president when he retired in 1956.

He served in the U.S. armed forces in World War I, and was a member of the American Legion. He was also affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Des Moines.

Surviving are two brothers, Nelson McKibban of Winterset and Lee McKibban of Erie, Pa.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Hess of Rochester, Minn. and Lucille and Marjorie McKibban of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. John F. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church here. Masonic ritual at the services was by Capitol lodge of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Clark cemetery near Winterset.
