Jay E. Smith Of Lorimor Dies

Life-Long Resident of This County Was 76 Years of Age

Jay E. Smith, retired farmer living northwest of Lorimor, died Sunday, March 19, at Madison Manor nursing home in Winterset. He was 76 years of age.

Mr. Smith was a life-long resident of Madison county. Born Nov. 2, 1890, he was the last surviving member of the James and Isabel Doty Smith family.

He was married April 13, 1925, to Mary L. Reynolds. They were parents of a daughter, Irene May, who died at birth.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. W. A. Samp of Winterset. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
