Ola Bennett, 94, Died Here Sunday

Was Born at Jefferson, But Lived in Madison County for 90 Years

Mrs. Alfred Bennett, a resident of Madison county for 90 years, died Sunday, Sept. 11th at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 94 years of age.

Mrs. Bennett was the former Ola Negus, daughter of Oben Warren Negus and Hanna Hungerford Negus. She was born at Jefferson on Dec. 28, 1871, coming to Madison county when she was 4 years of age. Her life was spent in Douglas township until moving to Winterset in 1964 to make her home with her son, Floyd Bennett.

She was married March 6, 1891, to Alfred L. Bennett. His death occurred in 1954.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Josephine Hoskins of Earlham; two sons, James and Floyd Bennett of Winterset; a grandson; and three great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, her two sisters and a brother having preceded her in death.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
