Clifford Harrison Janes, 84, passed away February 3, 2006 at Mercy Capitol. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens.

Cliff was born September 26, 1921 in Ames, Iowa to Lenora and Joseph Janes. He served in the US Army during World War II. He worked at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company for 32 years. Cliff served five years in the National Guard as a master platoon staff sergent. He also served for 9 years as a volunteer fireman with the Delaware Fire Department. He owned stock car 14 and enjoyed stock car racing.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Rosetta Janes, his daughters, Beverly Efnor (Kent), of Ankeny, Barbara Smith (Merlin) and Linda Ryan Janes, both of Des Moines; a son, Charles Janes of Des Moines; his sisters, Betty Agan of Berwick, Marion Plew and Shirley Hugen, both of Des Moines; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Clifford Lee, his parent and brother, Donald and a sister, Lois.
