IVAN SCRIVNER, St Charles

Ivan Edward Scrivner, 99, of St. Charles died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset.

Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on Thursday Nov. 8, with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating. Interment was at the St. Charles Cemetery.

Ivan Edward, the son of Robert Arthur Scrivner and Mattie Elizabeth (Lehman) Scrivner was born April 3, 1913, in Saint Charles, Iowa. He graduated from Saint Charles High School in 1933. He served his country in the US Army during World War II from 1942-1945. He was united in marriage to Helen Ruth (Smith) Ekleberry on Nov. 27, 1953, at Hernando, Miss. Ivan drove a school bus for several years in St Charles. He was a rural mail carrier for 32 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the St. Charles Parish.

He was preceded by his wife; brothers, Grant, Guy, Charles, Gene and Joe; infant brothers, Phillip and Robert, Jr.; sister, Ruth Smith and infant sister, Mildred; step-sons, David Ekleberry, Rex Ekleberry, Charles Ekleberry; step-grandson, Steven Ekleberry.

He is survived by his brother, Paul Scrivner of St. Charles; sisters, Mary Peak of Knoxville, Lois Burt of Cedar Rapids, May Ewart of Tempe, Ariz.; step-son, Don Ekleberry of Truro; 13 step grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
