Was Life-time Resident of Madison and Warren Counties
Joseph H. Janes, a life-time resident of Warren and Madison counties, died Thursday, July 29, at his home in South township. He was 71 years of age.
Mr. Janes was born in Warren county Feb. 3, 1894, a son of Thomas and Letha Brown Janes. He was a veteran of WW I. His active life was spent in farming.
Mr. Janes was married in 1919 to Lenora Sellers, who survives him. He also leaves four daughters, Mrs. Marion Riggs, Mrs. Betty Agan, and Mrs. Shirley Hall, all of Des Moines, and Mrs. Lois Spencer of Oak Grove, Mo; two sons, Clifford H. Janes, of Des Moines and Donald Janes of Indianola; thirty one grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Janes of Winterset and Hase Janes of Des Moines; three sisters, Mrs. George From, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Sadie Douglas of Des Moines and Mrs. Mary Beard of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Melvin Maddox.
Burial was made at Union Chapel cemetery, with military honors at the grave-side by Green - Rogers post of the American Legion.
