Mrs. Hilma Bickel Died Here Sunday

Had Made Home Here With Niece, Mrs. Virgil Smith, Past Two Years

Mrs. Hilma J. Bickel of Farnhamville, died Sunday, December 4th at a Winterset nursing home, at the age of 85 years. She had been making her home in Winterset with her niece, Mrs. Virgil Smith, for the last two years.

Mrs. Bickel was the former Hilma Johanna Olson, daughter of Charles and Emma Moody Olson. She was born at Gibson City, Ill., Sept. 20, 1881. She was married in 1903 at Sibley, Ill., to Arthur Bickel. Her husband, and a son, Everett, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bickel worked as a practical nurse for 40 years.

Surviving are a son, Virgil Bickel of Santa Monica, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ida Peterson of Minneapolis.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
