William R. Young, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died Thursday, Sept. 27, at his home in St. Charles. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Young was born on a farm north of St. Charles on May 30, 1885, a son of Robert M. and Mary E. Kinnaird Young. His mother was a member of the Kentucky colony that settled the Blair Chapel area. He lived on the home farm 72 years before retiring and moving into St. Charles.
He was married Oct. 30, 1918, to Mary Bane, who survives him.
He had been a member of the Methodist church since early youth.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Milton Young of St. Charles, Horace Young of Winterset and James Young of Bedford; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Howard Cho. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
