Mrs. George N. Bennett, a pioneer Union township resident, died Monday, Oct. 1, at her home in DeSoto. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Bennett was the former Isabelle Beedle, daughter of Abraham and Rachel Murphy Beedle. She was born in Union township March 5, 1880, and her life was spent in this county until 12 years ago, when she moved to DeSoto.
She was married Oct. 21, 1896 to George N. Bennett. During their early married life, they lived in the historic Bennett log cabin then located in Union township, which is now reconstructed in the Winterset city park.
She is survived by her husband; three children, Kyle Bennett of Winterset, Ward Bennett of Des Moines and Mrs. Lela Wolfe of West Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and two brothers, John and Roy Beedle of Winterset.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. From the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Walter A. Samp of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Fairview cemetery.
