Mrs. Lewis Smith Died Wednesday

Resident of Grand River Township Was 71 Years of Age

Mrs. Lewis S. Smith, a well known resident of Grand River township died last Wednesday, June 1, at a Winterset nursing home. Her death followed that of her husband by just six weeks.

Mrs. Smith was 71 years of age at her death. She was the former Ruby Verla Elkins, daughter of James C. and Marie Zimmer Elkins, and was born in Moody county, S. Dak., on June 21, 1894. She was married in Grant county, Oklahoma, on Aug. 21, 1910 to Lewis S. Smith.

She is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Everett Stanley of Maize, Kan., Mrs. Lee LaBrue of Byron, Okla., Mrs. Herman Smith of Jet, Okla., Mrs. Emil Sidlo of Lafayette, Colo. And Mrs. Alvin Rose of Clinton, Okla.; six sons, Forest Smith of Enid, Okla., Omer J. Smith of Maize, Kan., Millard Smith of Springfield, Ore., Garnold Smith of Hampton, Va., Gail L. Smith of Winterset, and Floyd W. Smith of Lorimor; and two sisters, Mrs. Virginia ------- of Newkirk, Okla., and Mrs. Viola Weaver of Guyman, Okla. She also leaves 43 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Watts and Soll Funeral home in Lorimor, in charge of the Rev. John Hall. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
