Cpl. Howard Janes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Janes of Patterson, has been officially declared to have been killed in action in the Korean war, according to word received by the parents at Patterson last week from the U. S. War department.
Corporal Janes made two tours of active duty in the Korean war. He first entered service on Sept. 14, 1949, and spent a year on the Korean fighting front before being returned to the United States. After a few months here he again volunteered for service in Korea, and was sent overseas again on Dec. 2, 1951.
He had been missing in action since May 10, 1952.
