HELEN "MARIE" ADAMS, Des Moines

Services for Helen "Marie" Adams, 76, who died Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Winterset Care Center, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 13 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the Linn Grove Cemetery, Prole, IA.

Survivors include daughters, Marcy Adams, Jodi (Jeff) Nicholl and Julie (Russ) Stone; grandchildren, Andrew and Sydnee Nicholl, Melissa (Jeff) Bosch and Michael (Bekka) Nicholl; great-grandchildren, Evaline Bosch and Issiah Nicholl; brother, Roy (Betty) Pollock and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, and brothers, Max and Rex Pollock.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 12 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family in her name. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com .

MARIE ADAMS, Des Moines

Helen “Marie” Adams, 76, of Des Moines died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Winterset Care Center.

Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the Linn Grove Cemetery in Prole, Iowa.

Marie was born in Weldon, Iowa, on March 2, 1936, to Bruce and Jessie Pollock. She attended school in Garden Grove and graduated from Cambria High School. She later attended school to train as a court reporter. She worked at American Mutual Insurance Company in Des Moines. She met the love of her life, Jerry Adams, in Des Moines. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom. Jerry and Marie owned and operated Adams Brothers Skelly with Jerry’s brother Jim and his wife Mary June for 25 years. They also owned J&J Sweet Shoppe in Winterset and Golfarama in Norwalk. Marie later worked for Sears, Comtron and Principal Life Insurance Co. in Des Moines. She was a member of Martensdale Flames and of the Centerville Chapter No. 239 Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by daughters, Marcy Adams, Jodi Nicholl and Julie Stone; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Pollock; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; and her brothers, Max and Rex Pollock.

Memorials may be given to the family in her name.
