RUSSELL HENRY WELLS

Russell Henry Wells was born November 29, 1905, near Exira, Iowa. His parents were George Albert and Olga Marie Jensen Wells. He passed away at the Dexter Hospital on October 14, 1973, after a short illness at the age of 67 years.

Russell attended school at Winterset and later the Dexter Public School when his family moved to a farm near Dexter. He was an avid sportsman participating in football and baseball while in school and later on town teams. He loved to spend his leisure moments fishing.

All of his life was spent on the farm with the exception for the time he served his country during World War II with the 34th division in Italy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Lanning, and one brother Gerald. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Frantz Lenocker of Dexter and Mrs. Ray Keating of Winterset; two brothers, Mervin of Dexter and Glenn of Tyler, Texas. Also, mourning his loss are fourteen nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Final rites were conducted by Rev. Jerry Evelsizer at the First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, October 16, 1973. Music was furnished by Mrs. John Shepherd at the organ and she accompanied her son, Jon, as he sang, “How Great Thou Art”.

Russell was carried to his final resting place by his six nephews: Robert, Richard, Paul and Vincent Wells, Ted Lenocker and Bill Keating.

Interment was in the Dexter Cemetery by Evans Service.
