Ernest B. Haines, a farmer in Madison and Guthrie counties for many years, died Monday, Jan. 16, at a Des Moines hospital. His home had been at Redfield in recent years.
Mr. Haines was 74 years of age. He was a native of Denver, Colo., where he was born May 25, 1886, a son of Arthur and Nellie Tarrant Haines. He came to Madison county in 1927.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; four children, Mrs. Helen Imboden of Earlham, Ernest Haines of Clinton, O.; Mrs. Alice Couch of Adel, and Mrs. Virginia Harvey of Waukee. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four brothers, Arthur Haines of Texas, Ralph Haines of Alabama, Alva Haines of Denver and Edward Haines of Akron, O.; and two sisters, Mae Haines and Mrs. Mazel Farney of Denver.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday from the Richards Funeral home at Winterset in charge of the Rev. ----------- of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
