Mrs. Robert Brittain died on Saturday

Life Long Resident of This County Was 69 Years of Age

Mrs. Robert Brittain died Saturday, March 18, at her home in Jefferson township. She was 69 years of age and was a life time resident of Madison county.

Mrs. Brittain was born in this county March 27, 1891. She was the former Joanna Emma McKenzie, daughter of Joe and Clarissa Bell Perry McKenzie.

She was married in Des Moines on May 4, 1910 to Robert Brittain. They were parents of seven children, one of whom died in infancy.

Mrs. Brittain was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church of Van Meter.

In addition to her husband she leaves six children, Mrs. Charlotte Ladd of Des Moines, Ward Brittain of Kamrar, William Brittain of Waukee, Donald Brittain of Des Moines, Mrs. Louise Leaming of Des Moines and Phillip Brittain of Van Meter; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Perry McKenzie of Downey, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Beryl Majors of Chicago and Mrs. Goldie Dooley of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the North McDonald cemetery.
