Glenn Hayden dies Friday

Glenn Hayden, 78, died Friday, June 11, 1976 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Leland Rubesh officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery of Gillette.

Mr. Hayden was born Aug. 20, 1897 to Alfred Tobinson Hayden and Medora Alice Hayden at Garfield, Adair County, Iowa, near the city of Greenfield.

He received his education in Iowa and Nebraska. On Feb. 28, 1917 he married Zaida Lorraine Rippey at Winterset, Iowa.

In the spring 1919 he filed a homestead 38 miles southeast of Gillette. In 1926 he moved with his family to Gillette and resided there for two years, before moving to his present ranch 20 miles south of Gillette.

He retired from active ranching in the fall of 1958, and moved back into Gillette.

He served 35 years on the election boards of Campbell County, and 28 years on the school board. He helped organize both the rural telephone and REA.

Since his ranch retirement, he has helped his son, Robert, operate a livestock commission yard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three granddaughters, one sister and two brother.

He is survived by three daughters, Neva Wilmot of Upton, Norma Duvall of Gillette, and Nita Rae Christensen of Casper; four sons, Darrell, Donald “Ike”, Doyle “Bud” and Dick “Bob”; two sisters, Myrle Wilson of Nampa, Idaho, and Marvel Landercasper of Lexingyton, Nebr.; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Noecker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
