Thomas Jefferson Alexander was born in Jackson County Iowa, December 14, 1850. He was fourth in a family of ten children, seven boys and three girls. His parents were Hugh and Charlott Lambertson Alexander of Irish and Welch descent. He moved with his parents to Winterset, Iowa in 1866, where he lived until 1873 when he came to Blanco Texas. He is survived by five brothers: John W. of Menard, Texas; Charley of Promeroy, Washington; Marion and Banks of Winterset, Iowa; and Grant of Greeley Colorado. He was married to Ella Joe Carson in Blanco, Nov. 3, 1880. To this union were born seven children. His wife and four children, Mary, Frances, Hugh and Emma now survive him.

He was Senior partner of the drug firm of Alexander & Speer. This partnership with Joe A. Speer extended thru a period of 30 years. He was converted and joined the Baptist church in his teens in Winterset, Iowa. He united with the Blanco Baptist church soon after coming to Blanco and for more than 30 years was Superintendent of the Sunday School in that church.

Transcriber’s note: Death occurred June 18, 1918, in San Antonio, Texas. Burial was in Blanco, Texas.
