Josephine Jeanette Stalcup, daughter of Anderew and Sarah Smith was born Jan. 29, 1883, near Lorimor, passed away at the Clarke County Hospital Jan. 25, 1962 at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 26 days.

She was united in marriage to Charles Sheldon and to this union five children were born, four of which survive: Ernest Sheldon of Lorimor, True Sheldon of Truro, Eugene Sheldon of Des Moines and Berniece Parker of Winterset. Mr. Sheldon and one daughter preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to Loren Stalcup, Jan. 12, 1935, who preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1961. Besides her children, she leaves 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; five step children, Harold Stacup of Lorimor, Mrs. Orvie Thurman of Hillsboro, Oregon, Mrs. William Palen of Lansing, Michigan, Mrs. William Shidlier of Avoca and Mrs. Wesley Stalcup of Norwalk.

She also leaves one brother, Elmer Smith of Afton, IA and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Denton of Mt. Ayr and Mrs. Neal Silverthorn of Lorimor and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 27th at the Lorimor Methodist Church with Rev. H. W. Kinzier officiating.

Interment was made in the Clark Cemetery, Winterset.
