John V. Wyatt Jr., 85, of Osceola, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at his home north of Osceola.
Funeral services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on Thursday Sept. 13, at 11 am with Pastor Benny Foster officiating. Family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to services on Thursday. Interment will be in the Fremont Cemetery in Clarke County, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed to Osceola V.F.W. or New Virginia American Legion.
John, the son of John Vernon Wyatt Sr. and Edith B. (Smalley) Wyatt, was born March 7, 1927, in Rising Sun, Iowa. John grew up in Altoona. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. John was united in marriage to N. Frances Paullin on March 7, 1952, at Winterset. John and Frances lived in Pine Snag, Ark., for many years. John attended auctioneer school and worked as an auctioneer for a couple of years. They were active members of the Pleasant Valley Southern Baptist Church near Pine Snag. The moved back to Iowa, and John worked for Massey Ferguson in Des Moines for over 12 years. John also had his own welding shop and was known to be one of the best welders in the area. He was a member of the New Virginia American Legion Post #281.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Wyatt; sister, Dorothy Bain and a sister in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Frances of Osceola; son, John V. Wyatt III of Osceola; daughter, Krystal Wyatt of Des Moines; four grandchildren; sisters, Kathryn Myer of Green Cove, Fla., and Sherry Shuey of Henderson, Nev.; and many other relatives and friends.
