Wight Rites At St. Leo's 9 A.M. Monday

The body of M. C. (Con) Wight, father of Mrs. Pete Hogeland of Danvers and Carl Wight, widely known young rancher of the Lewistown section, who died Wednesday in Oregon City, Ore., is expected to arrive here Sunday morning.

Providing no unexpected incident arises, it is planned to hold the funeral services at St. Leo's Catholic church at 9 o'clock Monday morning.

Besides the two Fergus county children, the deceased, who had a wide aquaintanceship and was highly thought of in Central Montana is survived by another daughter, Mr. G. H. Draper of Los Angeles, and several grandchildren.

Body of Long-time Resident of Fergus who died in Aregon Arrives This Morning - Casket Open At The Creel Chapel Today

Funeral services for the late M. C. (Con) Wight, 71, long-time resident of Fergus county who lived here about 15 years ago to reside in Oregon city, Oregon where he died last Wednesday, will be held from St. Leo's Catholic church at nine o'clock Monday morning.

The body is expected to arrive in the city early this morning and the casket will be open at the Creel chapel all day today.

Mr. Wight was a native of Iowa coming to Fergus County over a quarter of a century ago and carrying on ranching operations in various sections of the County for many years. He left to reside in Oregon city about 15 years ago

In his immediate family he is survived by two sons, Carl Wight of the city and Jack of Los Angeles; three daughters, Mrs. Pete Hogeland of Danvers, Mrs. Hazel Thompson of Glendale, California and Mrs. Edna Draper of Los Angeles; and 12 grandchildren.

At 8:15 tonight members of the family and friends of the deceased will gather at the chapel where Rosary will be said.

Many Gather For Impressive High Mass Services at St. Leo's Catholic Church

Funeral services for Milton C. (Con) Wight, pioneer Fergus cCounty rancher who came to this County over 50 years ago, and who died last Wednesday at Oregon city, Oregon, was held at St. Leo's Catholic church Monday morning; there being present a large number of all-time friends and relatives.

Solomn high mass was carried out by the Rev. Father A. J. Walsh, the services being most beautiful and impressive; well the large number present in floral tributes bespoke the high regard in which the old-time westerner was held by all who have the privilege of knowing are coming in contact with.

Following the services at the church a large number followed the casket to the Catholic cemetery where interment was made; pallbearers, all long time friends of the family, being Harry Martin, Pat McEnarney, Bert Linn, John Rauch, Firman Tullock and Ross Brown.

Milton (Conn) Wight was born September 1865, at Winterset, Iowa. He came to Montana in 1885, and located at Utica, working for the late Walter Waite, Jack Waite and Fred Warren. He was married in March, 1891, to Mary Stanton of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He homesteaded at Ross Fork Crossing in the early 90s and lived there several years, then moved into Lewistown in 1900, residing here and in adjacent areas until 1921, at which time his wife passed away.

Following the death of Mrs. Wight he moved to Portland, Oregon and resided in that vicinity until his death, March 4, 1936, in the Oregon city, Oregon hospital.

There were eight children born to this union of form five are still living, Carl Wight of Lewistown, Mrs. Edna Draper of Los Angeles, Hazel Thompson of Glendale California, Mrs. Mabel Hoagland of Ware, Montana, and John White of Los Angeles. 12 grandchildren also survive.

Con Wight was truly an old-timer, beloved by all who knew him, always willing to gauge of where help was needed, a real westerner and he will be greatly missed by the old-timers the Central Montana who deplore his passing.
