FAYE BAILIE
Faye Bailie, of Route 2 Box 2694, died Saturday at the Grande Ronde Hospital. She was 89, born to George Haven and Martha Susan (Wissler) Milligian on Jan. 16, 1895, in Winterset, Iowa, she moved to the Grande Ronde Valley in 1905. She graduated from La Grande High School in 1913 and later attended Whitman College. She taught in Union County for seven years and went to work for the telephone company where she was business office supervisor from 1920 to 1960.
She married Samuel T. Bailie who preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Bailie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hope Chapter No. 13 Order of Eastern star and the Union County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard G. and Barbara Miller, Eureka, Calif.; daughter, Joyce Handel, Salem; step-daughter, Mary Ainsworth, Portland; step-daughter-in-law, Linnea Bailie, La Grande; sisters, Gertrude Smith, Tacoma, Wash., Frances Anderson; Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren: relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church. Concluding services will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call at Daniel's Valley Funeral Chapel until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday. Contributions may be made to the Faye Bailie Memorial Fund in care of the First United Methodist Church.
