June 1945William Davis Dies
William Davis passed away at his home ease of Van Meter early Wednesday morning, June 6th at the age of 76 years. A son of Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, he was born at Port Byron, Ill., on June 18, 1868 and when just a small boy came with his parents to Dallas county and his made his home in this vicinity ever since.
He was united in marriage to Emma Best.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Pearl and a son, Bert, all at home; a brother, John Davis, who lived close by; a sister, Mrs. Emma Fry of Lorimor; eight nieces and four nephews.
The funeral service was held Friday afternoon at the Fisher Funeral home, conducted by the Ref. Earl McGinness, pastor of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Lloyd D. Fisher was the pianist. Serving as pallbearers were Irvin Paullin, Sil-- Davis, Henning Holland, Mathias, -- Cushing, Walter Paullin and Ervin Hintz.
Burial was in the Union Chapel cemetery.
Note: His wife did not survive him, she died in 1930.
