Edward Dale McVay, 66, of St. Charles died of a heart attack Oct. 12, 1998, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 14) at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 – 8 p.m. Cremation will follow the funeral services.

Edward McVay was born in Gibbs, Mo. He had resided in St. Charles for the last 32 years. He worked for Western International (AMF) as a forklift operator for 23 years. He previously had worked for the State of Iowa Highway Commission out of Martensdale. Edward was a member of the Early Wheels of Iowa Club and Model A Club. He also was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn McVay of St. Charles; two sons, Bill McVay of St. Charles and Bob McVay of Des Moines; one stepson, Richard Jenkins of Des Moines; one stepdaughter, Carol Zamparelli of Des Moines; two brothers, Gerald McVay of Kirksville, Mo., and Carl “Gene” McVay of Lake City; one sister, Corrine Ritchie of Bucklin, Mo.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
