Pg 2BGeorge Best, 96, of rural Booneville died of a heart ailment July 14, 1999, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, at Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery near Booneville.
George Best was born April 9, 1903, near Booneville to Edward and Ida (Smith) Best. He married Martha Schwartz in 1928 in Minnesota. A lifelong Booneville resident, he was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers.
He is survived by two sons, Robert and Donald, both of Booneville; one daughter, Marguerite Lienemann of Adel; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
