Death of Mrs. ANN McCANDLESS

Mrs. Ann McCandless, an old settler of this county, died Sunday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, at the age of 80 years. She has been in poor health for quite awhile.

Mrs. McCandless was born in Pennsylvania, and was married to Hiram McCandless after the Civil War. Their married life was spent in Madison county. The deceased is survived by her sister, Mrs. Johnson, and one brother, John Reed.

Funeral services were held at the Johnson home Tuesday afternoon, and burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Mary McCandless

Anna Mary Reed, daughter of David and Jane Gambol Reed, was born in Pennsylvania June 21, 1845. With her parents she moved to Kansas, then to Iowa in 1859.

After the Civil War she was married to Hiram L McCandless. Their entire married life was spent in Madison county. Her husband’s death occurred February 7th, 1916. Since that time Mrs. McCandless has made her home with her sister, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, at whose home she died March 21, 1926, being 80 years and nine months old.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Johnson, south of Patterson, and one brother, John Reed, of Macksburg.

Funeral services were held from the Johnson home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Frank Moore of Patterson. Burial was at Montpelier cemetery.
