LeRoy Fritz, Winterset

Services for LeRoy Fritz, 83, Winterset, who died April 26 at his residence, were held Sat., April 28, at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Bauer officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Winterset on April 18, 1907, he was the son of Clarence and Edith Henkle Fritz. A farmer, he had lived here the past 28 years, coming from Stanzel. He was married to Evelyn E. Cox. She died November 30, 1986. He was married to Thelma Mae Glasscock on February 4, 1988.

Mr. Fritz was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, the National Rock Mineralogical Society, the Madison County Genealogical Society and the Madison County Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife; a son Dean Fritz of Winterset and a stepson, Craig Hitchcock of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Rosalie Amos of Ames and Marcia Lamaak of Odebolt; and a step-daughter, Judith Flowers of Houston, Texas; brothers, Charles Fritz of Rippey, Fred Fritz of Paton and Donald Fritz of Grand Junction; sisters, Esther Varley of Stuart and Helen Collins of Algona; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents and a sister.

Clarence LeRoy Fritz, son of Clarence Richard and Edith Henkle Fritz, was born April 18, 1907 at Winterset, Iowa and died April 26, 1990 at his residence in Winterset, Iowa.

His life work was farming. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church at Orient. He was a member of the National Rock Mineralogical Society, Madison County Genealogical Society and Madison County Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife Thelma of Winterset; a son, Dean Fritz of Winterset; two daughters, Rosalie Amos of Ames and Marcia Lamaak of Odebolt; a step-son, Craig Hitchcock of Kansas City, Missouri; a step-daughter, Judith Flowers of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Charles Fritz of Rippey, Fred Fritz of Paton and Donald Fritz of Grand Junction; two sisters, Esther Varley of Stuart and Helen Collins of Algona; 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn on November 30, 1986; his parents and one sister, Ruby Dickson.

Funeral services were conducted at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset on April 28, 1990 with Rev. David Bauer officiating. Sue Clark provided organ music and Cliff Scholten was the soloist. Interment was in Winterset Cemetery.
