Services for Roy A. Truckenbrod, 78, Winterset, who died April 5 at the Care Center North, were held Mon., April 9, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lisa Klein officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born in Bureau County, Ill., on Sept. 21, 1911, he was the son of Herman and Amanda Gross Truckenbrod. He was a welder and machinist and formerly operated the Truckenbrod Machine Shop. He married Lucille Roberts on February 12, 1940 at Greenfield.
Mr. Truckenbrod resided here for 45 years, coming from Ames. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Iowa Blacksmiths and Welders Assn., served on the church council and worked on the Manhatten Project in Ames. He opened his machine shop in 1946 with Lowell Olson until 1954, then operated it alone before selling the shop to his son Richard in 1977.
Survivors include his wife: sons, Richard and wife Diane of Winterset, and Phil Truckenbrod of Hartford, Conn.; a sister Ina Knouf of Winterset; and grandchildren, Lori and Jason Truckenbrod.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
