Page 1Death of DENNY CLARK
Denny Clark died on Friday night, Dec. 17, at his home in Mitchell, S.D. Acute indigestion is reported as having set in, death coming in a few hours' time.
Mr. Clark's home was in Winterset until fifteen years ago, when he took a claim near Mitchell, where he has since resided.
One daughter, Mrs. Nora Clearwater of Portland, Ore., and one son, Ben of Mitchell, with their mother survive Mr. Clark. His three brothers and four sisters are living, as children of Caleb and Ruth Clark, who have a place in Madison county's history as being among its first settlers.
Mr. Clark was a contractor and builder widely known in this locality. The high school building now in use was built under his contract, also the First Christian church and numberless other private and public buildings.
The Clark brothers had an established reputation for honesty of work and word, the best tribute that can be paid a man, and the many old friends and neighbors of Denny Clark will remember him with respect and affection.
Funeral services were held in Mitchell on Tuesday. His brothers, Joel and Frank Clark, and sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith and Mrs. Martha Ballard, all of Winterset, were present.
