Death of BEALS T. MALTBY

Dr. Beals T. Maltby, father of Mrs. J. F. Tate, died at her home Thursday, Dec. 16, within three months of attaining his ninety-second birthday.

Dr. Maltby was a familiar figure on the streets of Winterset, having made his home here for the greater part of forty-three years of his life, living with Mrs. Tate for over twenty years.

The statement that he practiced dentistry in 1861 causes one to speculate as to the conditions under which his work was done, for dentistry has made such great advancement, as have all professions during the six decades that have gone.

Dr. Maltby had not been well for the past few months and had the solicitous care of his devoted daughter. He will be greatly missed in the home and among the neighbors. His affiliation with the Baptist church began in 1869 and he continued faithful until his death.

Rev. G. D. Rogers conducted the funeral services Saturday morning at the home, followed by interment in the Winterset cemetery.

B. F. MALTBY

Beals F. Maltby, son of Rev. Sherman and Maria Maltby, was born March 14, 1829, and passed away Dec. 16, 1920 at the home of his daughter in Winterset. He was 91 years , 9 months and 2 days old.

He was reared in northern New York state, the son of a country Baptist minister, who worked a farm six days of the week and preached Sundays. July 4, 1851 he married Miss Laura Huson, and Mrs. Tate is their daughter. In 1861 he moved to Michigan where he began the practice of dentistry. After the death of his wife in 1865, he moved to Illinois, where he was married to Mrs. P. A. Robinson, with whom he lived until her death about 10 years ago. He united with the Baptist church in Aurora, Ill., in 1869 , and has been a member ever since.

Aout 34 years ago, the family moved to Winterset, and while going away several times, the family always came back and has spent the past twenty years with his daughter and her family. His feeble health has confined him to the house for several months.

He leaves a brother, A. F. Maltby of Omaha and his daughter and family to mourn his loss.
