Word was received Tuesday from J. F. Tate, announcing the death of his brother-in-law, Charles Gratz, of Neosha, Mo. No particulars were given except that the funeral will be held tomorrow.
Mr. Gratz was about 75 years old. His removal from Winterset to Noel, Mo. dates back to 1891. For many years he was a well known business man of our town, first a member of the hardware firm of Gratz & Tate, later as a grocer.
The family owned the place now occupied by C. L. Cole on West South street. Since the death of Mrs. Gratz, Mr. Gratz has made his home in Neosha with his only daughter, Mrs. Jennie Truex.
Mr. Gratz was a prominent member of the Baptist church and older members of that church as well as older citizens of Winterset will be saddened to hear of his death.
