Mrs. Margery Lowden died Sunday June 27, at the home of her son, John Lowden, in Winterset, at the age of 81 years.
Mrs. Lowden came here in 1866 and moved on a farm one mile south of Webster. Here she lived till 1903 when she moved to Winterset, where she resided until her death. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock this morning at Webster, and burial was made in the Roberts cemetery.
Surviving members of the family are: J. J. Lowden of Winterset, W. F. Lowden of Adair county, and Mrs. Ada Bowlsby of Des Moines.

Margery Cochran was born July 13, 1839 in Shocton county, Ohio, and died June 27, 1920, at the home of her son, John Lowden. In early childhood she moved with her parents from Ohio to Glasgow, Jefferson county. She was married March 15, 1855 to Edward Paren Lowden. To this union were born six children: Jerry, who died in infancy; Tillie, who died July3, 1899; Frank, who died Nov. 2, 1918; John and Will of Winterset and Mrs. Ada Bowlsby of Des Moines.
In 1866 Mr. and Mrs. Lowden moved to a farm near Webster, where they made their home till the death of Mr. Lowden, Aug 11, 1908. About five years ago, Mrs. Lowden came to Winterset to live in her own home until last November, since when she has made her home with her sons.
Mrs. Lowden was converted in childhood and joined the Methodist church of which she was a faithful member the rest of her life. She and her husband were charter members of the Webster church when it was organized at Drake school house. So long as she had strength and health. Mrs. Lowden was always ready to help in sickness or distress, and many were the deeds of kindness and charity she performed.
Besides her three children, there survive her nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A short prayer service, led by Rev. Giddens, was held at the home of her son, John, in Winterset, at 9 o'clock Wednesday, June 30. At 10 o'clock funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Webster, where she had spent so many years of service and helpfulness, after which she was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Roberts cemetery.
Those who are left to mourn the loss of a loved mother are John and Will Lowden of Winterset and Ada Bowlsby of Des Moines; all being present at the funeral. Those from a distance were: John Davis of Pilger, Nebr.; Mrs. Annie Irwin of Monroe, Iowa; Len Turbett, Mrs. May Sanberg and Mrs. Clyde Ward all of Des Moines.
