La Verne Trumbauer died at his home near Hanley, after a brief illness from pneumonia, on Feb. 23, 1920, aged 26 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was born at Marcus, in Cherokee county, Iowa.
Seventeen years ago, he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Trumbauer, to Madison county and continued to reside here until his death. At the age of 9 years, he united with the M. E. church and died in the Christian faith.
He was married to Elizabeth Cushing on Nov. 3, 1914. There are left to mourn his departure, his wife, a baby son, his father, four sisters: Mrs. F. L. Davis of Des Moines, Mrs. G. W. Burkhead of Sioux City; Mrs. Harry Roberts of St. Charles and Mrs. J. W. Carter of Winterset. He also leaves two brothers: I. C. Trumbauer of Wayne, Nebr., and F. A. Trumbauer of St. Charles.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 25th, and burial at St. Charles cemetery. All the brothers and sisters were permitted to be present except for Mrs. Burkhead, who was detained by reason of illness.
