Services for George A. Moore, 56, a Winterset resident since 1946 who died Saturday at Des Moines General Hospital, were held this afternoon (Wednesday) at the Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Melvin Miller and Jerry Elston officiating. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born May 20, 1926 at Gardner, N.D., he was the son of Roland and Gladys Moore. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and moved to Winterset from Adel. He worked for the state Department of Transportation in the railroad division, and was a member of the V.F.W. and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He married Fannie Faux in Winterset Jan. 8, 1983.
She survives along with stepsons, Mike and Mark Benge, and a stepdaughter, Kelly Benge, all of Winterset; brothers, Robert of Des Moines, R. Joseph of Moville, Iowa, and Larry of Winterset; sisters, Harriet Hemingson of Round Rock, Tex., Phyllis Jones of Des Moines and Margaret Harper of Fairbanks, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
