ED BRAZZLE

Ed Brazzle departed this life on Dec. 31, 1919 at his home in Lee township of pneumonia after a short illness. He was the son of Thomas and Anna Brazzle of Illinois. He was born Oct. 25, 1857 at LaSalle, Ill. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Norris Feb. 19, 1892. To this union were born eight children, six boys and two girls, one girl dying in infancy. Six boys and one girl and the mother survive to mourn their great loss.

He came to Iowa 30 years ago and settled in Warren county. He removed to Madison county, and has lived in Lee township 25 years. By honesty, hard work and frugality he was the owner of 240 acres of Lee township land. He was elected to all the township offices and at his death he held the important office of treasurer of school funds and chairman of the board of trustees, which duties he performed without fear or favor. He was trusted and respected by all who knew him.

He was a model father, kind and obliging neighbor, good citizen and 100 per cent American.

He was buried from St. John's Catholic church with high mass celebrated by the pastor for the repose of his soul with his six sons as pallbearers. His brother and sister from Springfield, Ill., attended, with a large concourse of friends and neighbors, to pay respect to his memory. May he rest in peace.
