RONALD G. THOMPSON, Winterset

Ronald G. Thompson, 65, of Winterset died of a heart attack Jan. 16, 2012, at his home in Winterset.

The body has been cremated and an informal graveside memorial service is pending for a later date at Green Lawn Cemetery in Afton, Iowa.

Ron was born at Creston, Iowa, to Theodore J. and Leota M. (White) Thompson. He was a graduate of Winterset High School, class of 1964. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1987 and was most recently employed as a computer technician in Chicago, Ill. Following the death of his second wife in 2006, Ron returned to Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roger Thompson; and his second wife, Emma Sue (English) Thompson.

Ron is survived by his three children, Lisa Proeger of Bishop, Calif., Jarrod Thompson of Missoula, Mont., and Christina Willeford of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Hal Thompson of Des Moines; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
