ALICE LANDER, WINTERSET

Alice M. Lander, 90, of Winterset died Feb. 29, 2012, at the Winterset Care Center North in Winterset.

Graveside service was held at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Orillia, Iowa, on Saturday, March 3. Memorials may be directed to Middle River Hospice, Home Instead and/or Irish Hearts.

Alice Marie Neighbors was born April 29, 1921, in Unionville, Mo., the daughter of Fred and Fern (Smith) Neighbors. She married Russell Lander. Alice worked for Sears as a salesperson in Grinnell, Ames and Des Moines for many years. She was a member of the Gilman Saddle Club of which she was secretary for many years. She also was secretary of the school board in Newbury, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Albert Lee Neighbors.

Alice is survived by her husband Russell of Winterset; her three children, Lola Kaufmann of Charlotte, NC, Al Keese of Arkansas, and Jim Keese of Van Meter; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
