Roy W. Jerome, 71, of 4120 Berwick Drive died of cancer Tuesday at Luther Park Health Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Adel, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.

Mr. Jerome was born in Cogon and lived in Adel 34 years before returning to Des Moines last year. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, was an Army veteran of World War II and had been a member of Adel Masonic Lodge, Des Moines Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Beaverdale Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; a daughter, Jane Ann Kelly of Maquoketa; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Southtown Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. Masonic service. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Shriner’s Crippled Children Hospitals.
