Harvey Brown was born in Warsaw, Indiana September 20, 1842 and departed this life October 3, 1919, aged 77 years and 15 days. The first eight years of his life were spent in Warsaw. About this time the mother died and the father brought the family to Des Moines where Mr. Brown grew to manhood.
He enlisted in the Union army during the Civil War and served his country honorably for four years and two months in Co. C. of the 2d Iowa infantry. After being mustered out he returned to Des Moines.
Four years later he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Miles. The couple lived in Des Moines for ten years and then came to Patterson which has been their home ever since.Mr. Brown was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church when twelve years of age. He was always to be found in his Father's house whenever occasion permitted. He was patient and cheerful sufferer and went home to his Master where we believe his state is far better than in this tenement of clay.
Those who remain to mourn his loss are his wife; one sister, Mrs. Malinda Fox; four grand children; five great grandchildren and a host of friends besides.
