JACOB LONG DIED LAST SATURDAY

Funeral Rites Were Held on Monday With Burial at Van Meter

Jacob E. Long, a prominent Douglas township farmer since 1918, died last Saturday at the age of 74 years.

Mr. Long had spent his entire life in the occupation of farming. He was born in Marion county on Jan. 15, 1866, the son of Asa and Rebecca Long, the third child of a family of 12.

He was married to Della H. Bruel in 1889. In 1918 they moved to a farm in Madison county, which has since been his home.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Della Long; two brothers, Frank Long of Adair county and Andy Long of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three sisters, Mrs. Letie Warner and Mrs. Maggie Shroyer of Adair and Mrs. Martha Bailey of Panora.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in Van Meter.
