CHARLES E. HUGLIN PASSED ON MONDAY

Veteran Citizen Lived on One Madison County Farm for 85 Years.

Charles E. Huglin, one of Madison county’s oldest citizens, died at his farm home three miles north of St. Charles Monday morning after an illness of eight days. Death was caused by pneumonia. He was 85 years of age.

Mr. Huglin enjoyed the distinction of having lived on one farm longer than any other person in Madison county. He was born on the farm where his death occurred, and all his 85 years were spent there.

Mr. and Mrs. Huglin celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James Luke of Winterset, and Mrs. George Brown, and Mrs. Warren Conway of Whittier, Cal.; and six sons: Andrew J. Huglin of Pittsburg, Pa., Fred W. Huglin of St. Charles, Henry E. Huglin of Council Bluffs, Carl A. Huglin of Des Moines, J. George Huglin of Prole, and August R. Huglin at home. One son, Franklin, died in infancy. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Blair Chapel, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was to be made in the Blair Chapel cemetery, with the six surviving sons acting as pallbearers.
