Page 4Death of MRS. SUSAN BALLARD
Mrs. Susan Ballard died in Des Moines last Friday evening and her remains were brought here for burial this morning, services being conducted by Dr. J. S. Corkey in the Presbyterian church.
Mrs. Ballard was married in 1867 to the late Calvin Ballard, one of Winterset's best known business men of former years. As Miss Susan Alrich, she married Rev. Thomas J. Taylor, pastor of the Old School Presbyterian church here at one time. His death occurred many years ago.
Mrs. Ballard during the eighty six years of her life was the love of all who knew her. Always sympathetic, consistent and cheerful, she typified to her associates the ideal Christian. She loved young people and they loved her. Her membership in the local Presbyterian church covered a period of fifty seven years. Her death severs another link between the present and the past.
One son, W. E. Ballard of Des Moines survives Mrs. Ballard.
