Funeral services for M. E. Smith who passed away in a hospital in Des Moines, July 10th, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Christian church, conducted by the Rev. P. G. Dennis of Marshalltown and assisted by Rev. Carnahan and Rev. Patterson.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Mrs. Leah Foglesong of Muscatine and Earl Smith of near St. Charles, three grandchildren, Leota Foglesong and Junior and Dean Smith, and one brother, Melvin Smith of Pierce City, Mo.
Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
Relatives and friends who came from a distance to attend the funeral were Mrs. Sam Nicoson of Rolfe, M. G. Patrick of New Virginia, Mrs. Hattie McLey of Coffey, Mo., Mrs. T. F. Beveridge and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. St. Denis, of Muscatine, Mrs. P. G. Dennis of Marshalltown, Mrs. Margaret Nicoson, Mrs. Carrie Douglas and daughter, Blanche of Des Moines.
